Here are some of the websites built by Bold Type.

Circle of Designers
http://circleofdesigners.com.au

This website was commissioned by Pip Wilkinson, Textile Designer. Pip wanted something clean with lots of white space to showcase her natural hemp fashion garments.

The slider on the homepage is ideal for showcasing the individually-designed garments and accessories designed by the talented team at Circle of Designers.

Linda Magson – Counsellor, Sydney

This website build involved moving an existing website from another content management system to WordPress. Linda loves the new site. We redesigned the website while maintaining the overall design. The homepage was redesigned to allow visitors to access different webpages direct, we added a blog so that Linda can post content of interest, added a ’sign on for enews’, search engine optimization and improved social media on her website. Another feature is the background which also is used on the header.

Verdict: Linda is ecstatic!

Cosway – strategic communications counsel
http://www.coswaypr.com.au/

With this website build, Bold Type worked with an inhouse team to make sure that the design and functionality reflected the Cosway culture. This is a people-focused communications business so we wanted the design and the images on the website to tell this story.

Feedback from Cosway is that they get many complimentary comments about their website. We love it too.

All Stone is a local business in the Inner West of Sydney – it’s name says it all really. They supply stone for paving and other stone products.

The website is built using WordPress which is considered the best content management system (CMS) in the world. Bold Type developers take the WordPress system and modify it to suit each individual business. Best of all, with a Bold Type website, our clients can easily upload content so that their websites are continually renewed and reflect the changes that are constant in any business. And, they are built to maximize search engine optimisation so that our clients get more enquiries and business than their competitors.

The build of the EchoStars website was the major pro bono work undertaken by Bold Type in 2010.

EchoStars is a worthy charity that raises money to help education children living in the slums of Dhaka in Bangladesh. Their work also extends to funding the Sewing for Sustainability Program for mothers of the children attending the school to help the families become financially self sufficient. In addition, a medical centre is planned to ensure families living in some of the worst conditions in the world can become healthy, educated and self-sufficient.

It was a pleasure working with Rose Figtree, the founder of EchoStars and we at Bold Type wish them great success in their activities.

Stop Baileys
http://stopbaileys.org

This organisation is a community group that has Leichhardt Municipal Council support to protest the building of a Fuel Depot at White Bay in Balmain virtually next door to people’s homes.

The group wants a planned proposal for the foreshores of Balmain that will provide parklands and ammenities for the community.

This was a pro bono job – the website build was part of Sue Stevens’ contribution to this worthy local cause.

Are you a charity or community group? Each year Bold Type donates a website to a charity or community organisation. In 2010, Bold Type built two such websites, this one for Stop Baileys and a website for EchoStars.

Captivations – custom sportswear apparel supplier
http://www.captivations.com.au

Captivations is a huge website with over 300 pages, four major product categories and over 30 product gallery pages. Getting the SEO right for each page was a major challenge in itself. Making sure that customers can find what they want easily was another challenge for such a large website with so many different products. Feedback from customers has been excellent and more people are finding Captivations which is exactly what the team at Captivations wants.

Ski The World is an information website for the skiing and snowboarding fraternity. The aim is to eventually be the authoritative voice on ski resorts around the world with every ski resort listed on the website.

This website is in constant development as new ski resorts and news relevant to snow sports is added. It was built by Bold Type using WordPress web software so that new information can be uploaded easily.

The aim of the website is to inform and also to generate income from companies advertising on the site.

Balmain Website Designs, Bold Type's dedicated web development website

Because Bold Type is a publishing business with related but different services – print publishing and website development – we decided to build a dedicated website for the web design and development side of our business.

That’s how Balmain Website Designs was created. We registered the domain name, designed the website based on the latest in business website templates and built the website using WordPress, an open source  web software with an easy-to-use content management system. We use WordPress for all our client websites because it’s so good and so easy for our clients to upload new content whenever they want.

Do Duck Inn, Adelaide
http://www.doduckinn.com.au

The new owner of Do Duck Inn in Adelaide knew he needed a new website when he bought the business but he was still knocked out when he saw our first prototype website for his cafe and catering business in the Adelaide CBD.

We can’t actually print what he said … but they were words to the effect, ‘I absolutely love it’.

Because we based this website on a purchased Wordpress template, we kept the costs for web design to zero. Websites can still be beautiful, function beautifully and have excellent search engine optimisation without costing the earth.

Do Duck Inn, like all Bold Type websites, has Google Analytics to see what traffic the website is getting and what pages are the most popular and more.

Liza McKilliam – real estate consultant
http://www.lizamckilliam.com.au

Bold Type managed a complete re-development for Liza McKilliam’s real estate website. This included a complete overview of the content and its presentation, a new website design, a change of web hosting company that will save money on host facilities, improved search engine optimisation and an analytics program to assess visitor traffic.

I love that the new website is so easy to add content to the site. This will help my support team enormously and save so much time and money. Liza McKilliam

The Living Silk website development was a revamp of an existing static website to a dynamic system that the client can manage themselves. The website is run using Wordpress, open source CMS which was voted the number one system for dynamic websites in 2009. Every page is editable, for example, images of new outfits can be easily added with the click or two on the keyboard. The news pages allow Living Silk to keep their web visitors up to date with fashion news and the ‘email friends’ function allows visitors to send an image of any outfit to friends and families. This is particularly relevant when brides want their bridesmaids to see a particular gown.

The Glitterbox website is up and running. It’s been an interesting build because we wanted it have a very particular look and feel that captures the essence of a hairdressing business in Newtown and also captures the essence of the salon itself. The best part about creating a unique website such as this one for Glitterbox is that the combined talents of a great design, content and development team (three exceptionally talented people in their own fields) can make a website that noone else in the world will have. Because Bold Type also put together a  comprehensive web presence for Glitterbox, the business doubled within weeks of the development process starting. Now, with their own self-managable website, not even the roof will limit business growth.

Vertifix Printing
http://www.vertifix.com.au

Website for printing company

We started getting  more requests for quotes from web visitors from the time the website went live. The number of visitors increased amazingly in the first month. And I can modify the website to improve results as I go. Wayne Rosenberg, Sales and Marketing Director, Vertifix Printing, Ultimo, Sydney

Glitterbox Hair Salon, Newtown

Placeholder homepage for hair salon

The brief for this website was to capture the Glitterbox, Newtown experience and to create something out of the ordinary. This placeholder homepage was designed to replace the normal boring ‘This website is under construction’.

It’s very exciting getting a website and I love working with Sue to get the right look and feel for our salon. Sue has just posted an incredible video of our salon on YouTube. Just search Glitterbox469King to check it out.
Sharon, Proprietor, Glitterbox Hair Salon, Newtown

The new Glitterbox website has now replaced this placeholder page.

Website for civil celebrant, Sydney

What I love about my new website is that I can add or change content easily. I’ve saved money on web hosting and the design is very appropriate for my business. I’m really thrilled with the results. Deborah Bedford, The Finishing Touch
